Privacy

Privacy policy.

This policy covers information handled when you visit the site, write to Mike Dellatte, subscribe to publication notices, or send a file.

Contact.

This website is operated by Mike Dellatte. Privacy questions may be sent to md@mikedellatte.com.

Site delivery and cookies.

Cloudflare delivers and protects the site and provides aggregate Web Analytics without cookies, localStorage, or fingerprinting. It may process technical connection data, including IP addresses and request information.

If you choose Allow cookies, Google Tag Manager loads Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity to measure page use, referrals, approximate location, devices, and interactions. Google Analytics may set first-party analytics cookies. Clarity provides heatmaps and session recordings. Public page text may be recorded; input values and designated private areas are masked. No advertising tags are enabled. See Google's partner sites notice and Microsoft's privacy statement. You can change your choice at any time through Legal in the footer.

Notices, messages and uploads.

If you subscribe, the email address you provide is used to send occasional publication notices. Resend processes the address and delivery information and may process it outside the European Economic Area under the safeguards in its Data Processing Addendum. The subscription starts after confirmation and can be ended through the unsubscribe link. The address is not sold. Limited confirmation and suppression records may be kept to manage the subscription.

Email providers process the address, headers, content, and attachments of messages you send. The private uploader does not ask for a name or email address or retain the original filename. It stores the file with a random receipt, submission time, and terms acceptance. Cloudflare and other network providers may still process connection information.

Use, retention and rights.

Information is used to operate and protect the site, manage messages, subscriptions and submissions, conduct and publish journalistic and literary work, maintain the editorial archive, and handle legal matters. It is not sold. Service providers, professional advisers or public authorities may handle it where reasonably necessary or required by law.

Information is kept only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes, including archival preservation, security, source protection and legal matters. A submission may be retained whether or not it is published. Privacy requests may be sent to the contact address above. Any rights available under applicable law remain subject to lawful protections for journalism, literary work, freedom of expression, archives, confidential sources, and the rights of others.
