Hermann Hofstetter

Hofstetter studied industrial engineering at Munich University of Applied Sciences from 1986 to 1991. He later completed postgraduate study in construction and environmental subjects at Danube University Krems, pursued doctoral study in business administration at the University of Flensburg, and studied theology through Domschule Würzburg.

His professional career began at Thyssen Industrie, where he led work relating to operational facilities. He then headed construction and operations at Krankenhaus Freising before founding FM+Beratung, the consultancy he owned and ran for more than two decades.

Alongside his consulting work, he taught at universities in Austria and Germany. From 2013 to 2022, he served the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising as an officer for responsibility toward creation, bringing environmental practice into institutional and faith-based settings.

His political engagement reaches back to 1991, when he joined the ÖDP. His biographical record states that he spent more than twenty years serving as a federal and state delegate for the party.

Hofstetter has also been involved with TAGWERK since 1992, supporting its regional model for ecological agriculture and responsible food systems and later serving on the association's board. His wider civic work includes parish leadership, adult education, and responsibility for worship within the Catholic community.

His environmental network includes the church environmental-management initiative KirUm, Scientists for Future in the Traunstein region, and the Ökogenuss platform for Waginger See, Inn, and Salzach, which connects ecology, regional production, and sustainable consumption.

Since 2025, he has also advised Al Masdar Investment and ORC4 on sustainability. This corporate role sits within a much longer record of environmental activism, political participation, ecological education, and institutional change.
